Matthew 22:39, Mark 12:31, Luke 10:28, John 15:12
And the Second Is like unto It, Love thy Neighbor as thyself.
According to the Bible, these words came directly from the mouth of Jesus. Yet after 2,000 years, human-kind continues to look the other way when it comes to love of neighbor. We have set up artificial barriers, which we refuse to cross, to avoid our neighbors. They don’t look like us. They don’t dress like us. They don’t talk like us. They don’t live like us. They weren’t born here. They don’t worship our god.
Jesus said this Commandant is one of the two greatest of all Commandments; the other being to love God.
What is it that we don’t like about the Commandment to love our neighbor? Do we have to give up too much to love them? Are our circumstances too extreme to live by this Commandment?
